BLUEGRIP J Series
JOIN THE J – GRIP YOUR GAME!
The DONIC BLUEGRIP J series was developed together with the Chinese superstar Zhang Jike and combines the strengths of the BLUESTAR A with the advantages of the BLUEGRIP C series.
The popular pimple compound of the BLUESTAR A series is now also used in the BLUEGRIP J. The sponge structure (BLUEGRIP C2) and the nap geometry (BLUEGRIP C1) were selected from the BLUEGRIP C series.
In combination with the newly developed, even stickier rubber surface of BLUEGRIP J (Chinese Special Stickiness), the result is a spin monster with maximum control for close-to-the-table play. The dampening effect of BLUEGRIP J also reduces the speed of incoming balls. This improves precision, especially when playing serve and return.
BLUEGRIP J belongs to the class of C-Touch rubbers. In other words, rubbers with a chinese touch, which are characterised by a sticky top rubber and a relatively hard sponge composition – just like the chinese model.

Perfect spin with feel and experience – Zhang Jike and the birth of a new generation of rubbers.
The Chinese superstar played a fundamental role in the development of this innovative rubber. Instead of relying solely on laboratory data, measured values and theoretical parameters, we relied on what really counts in the game: the keen instinct of a champion.
Zhang Jike brought his years of experience, his sensitivity for spin, ball contact and timing directly into the test series. We have repeatedly tested prototypes under real playing conditions – not because the measurement data was wrong, but because only the feel at the table shows the truth.
The result is a rubber that maximises spin thanks to its high tackiness and enables targeted control through finely tuned speed reduction – in line with Zhang Jike's playing philosophy.
- Available in 3 sponge variants: J1: 55° / J2: 52,5 ° / J3: 50°
- Fine-pored sponge structure with moderate elasticity
- Basically hard sponge design, which plays softer than the relatively high number of degrees of the rubbers would suggest due to the pimple material mix.
Regardless of the pimple geometry, fine-pored rubbers provide a slightly harder and more direct ball impact.
PIMPLE GEOMETRY
BLUEGRIP SERIES (in mm)
- Short (0.7mm), wide pimple heads (1.5mm) in a cylindrical shape with small pimple spacing and small gaps (0.8mm)
- The close arrangement of the short, wide pimples increases the contact surface to the ball and thus leads to a higher spin development
- Geometry that optimises the ball impact point and provides a very precise feel
Regardless of the sponge structure: The shorter and wider the pimple heads are, the harder the feel.

- A new arrangement at molecular level gives the surface a kind of nanostructure that leads to even more attraction (Chinese Special Stickiness).
- The nanostructure of the BLUEGRIP surface promotes increased bridging between the ball and the surface of the pimple rubber due to the larger contact area.
The higher the grip of the top rubber, the more rotation can be imparted to the ball.

BALL COUPLING
- The new nano-structure of the surface improves ball coupling, which is why it is possible to hit the ball at an extremely inclined angle with advanced technology. This gives the ball more rotation.
- The higher spin values lead to the extremely distinctive trajectory curve typical of the BLUEGRIP J.

- The combination of a sticky surface and hard pimple geometry reduces the speed of the impacting ball, has a dampening effect and improves control.
- The return game and especially the short-short game over the table are significantly simplified. High-rotation serves from the opponent are neutralised and the return can be played flat and precisely.
BALL BOUNCE BEHAVIOUR IN COMPARISON
The sticky nature of the rubber surface and the damping properties of the sponge can be seen in the diagram (flat bounce after ‘dropping’ the ball from the same height).
Here the BLUEGRIP J shows a flatter ball bounce compared to the dynamic BLUESTAR A. This is particularly advantageous in spin-orientated attacks, in rebound play or in tricky situations, as it enables better control.
Hybrid Touch (H-Touch): Combination of slightly sticky top rubber and hard, very dynamic sponge (Optimised Energy Sponge Technology - OPTE).
Chinese Touch (C-Touch): Rubbers with sticky top rubber and hard, less elastic sponge nature based on the chinese model.

COMPARISON OF CHARACTERISTICS BLUEGRIP J - BLUESTAR A - BLUEGRIP C2

Spin + Ball Impact
Due to the new surface technology, the new BLUEGRIP J develops higher spin values with a rather hard impact than the somewhat softer and dynamically designed BLUESTAR A.
The harder the sponge and the grippier the rubber surface, the more rotation can generally be generated.

Dynamics + Precision
The BLUEGRIP J plays slightly less dynamically than the BLUESTAR A due to its sticky surface and harder sponge composition, but it is extremely precise and controlled.
With increasing sponge hardness and grip of the rubber, the possibility of placing the ball with pinpoint precision increases.
SUITABILITY
- Developed for modern playing systems where the catapult effect is of secondary importance.
- The focus is on maximising spin/rotation generation.
- Also ideal for players who value a controlled service and return game.
- Very well suited for middle and lower level players who prioritise precision over the hardness of their strokes
- The softer BLUEGRIP J 2 or J 3 version is the right choice for allround players.
- Very offence-oriented players with a correspondingly mature technical level usually opt for the somewhat harder J 1 version.
