Where legends are made
Spårvägens BTK is one of Sweden’s most traditional and important table tennis clubs. Founded in 1940, the club is today one of the
largest table tennis organisations in the country. From beginners to elite players, Spårvägen offers a broad programme for children,
young people and adults. Both the men’s and women’s teams compete at the highest levels of Swedish table tennis.
Spårvägen became internationally renowned above all as the home and development club of some of the greatest names in table
tennis history. Jan-Ove Waldner and Mikael “Äpplet” Appelgren both developed at Spårvägen before going on to shape the
international game for many years. Their success remains an important part of the club’s identity and heritage.
Youth development continues to be at the heart of the club’s philosophy. Spårvägen runs numerous training groups for different
ages and performance levels and works with experienced coaches throughout its programme. The club provides young players with a
clear pathway from their first steps in table tennis to competitive and elite-level sport.
At the same time, Spårvägen combines its strong youth structure with ambitious performance programmes. The club regularly competes
at the highest national level and continues to develop players who can make the transition from the academy into senior competition.
Another defining feature of Spårvägen is the impressive breadth of its activities. In addition to elite and youth table tennis,
the club offers programmes for beginners and adults and organises major events such as the Stockholmsspelen DONIC Cup. DONIC is
also visible in the club’s training structure, underlining the close connection between Spårvägen and the DONIC Family.
